Notre Dame, Paris
NOTRE DAME, PARIS
Since our beginning, the mission of Ghirelli has been to creatively exalt the beauty of great worship landmarks in the Catholic Faith. In 2005 we received a request to create the Official Rosary for the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris, France.
Our goal was to represent the magnificence of one of the most beautiful Cathedrals in the world — where the enchanting statue of the Holy Virgin with Jesus is adored.
Inspired by the architectural features of the Cathedral, we have created a rosary embodying its aesthetical and stylistic perfection. The wonderful entrance vault “The Portal of the Last Judgment” becomes the centerpiece. Also featured are a faithful reproduction of the Virgin of Paris and the famous rose-window, a gothic masterpiece. The beads showcase our typical excellence in craftsmanship and include the wonderful bust of Notre Dame. The “Cross on the Main Altar” completes the creative act, becoming the Crucifix of the Rosary.
“Those were the days in autumn 1793 when the antichrist essence of the Revolution showed itself in the most extreme ways: the calendar was modified; Paris and its provinces became the set for the most various worldly parties; public religious ceremonies were forbidden; funeral services and graveyards were secularized; profane ceremonies and carnival processions were encouraged. In Nevers, on September 22nd, the worship of Brutus was officially opened. By October 24th the Paris Commune declared the closing down of all churches. To celebrate the surrender of all functions by the Bishop Gabriel and his vicars, the Feast of Reason takes place in Paris where a mime, Mademoiselle Maillard, plays the part of the Reason.”
